Her current research interests are related to the growth of international licensing and outward FDI as alternative modes for the international exploitation of technology by firms. She examines this issue from two perspectives: from the perspective of the globalisation of innovation by incumbent firms and from the perspective of the non-incumbent firm wishing to commercialise its technology capability and build international scale in order to do so. She has studied the software industries in India and the UK extensively. Her previous research has studied the emergence of technology markets and their implications for the strategies of small firms and regional growth.
