Discussion Meeting on Recent Trends in Chinese Economic
Performance and Future Prospects

Emergence of China as one of the world’s largest economies with rapid growth has attracted much attention worldwide. In order to reflect on the emerging trends in the Chinese economy and their implications, RIS on January 30, 2004 organized a Discussion Meeting on Recent Trends in Chinese Economic Performance and Future Prospects. Professor Fan Gang, a distinguished Chinese economist and Director, National Economic Research Institute, China initiated the discussion.

Ambassador C.V. Ranganathan, former Ambassador of India in China, chaired the meeting. The discussion meeting was attended by a number of senior experts and policy makers from different Ministries of the Government of India.
