The Market Access Negotiations under the WTO have thrown up many opportunities and challenges for developing countries. RIS and Assocaiton of Indian Automobile Manufactures conducted a study for the Ministry of Commerce aimed at analysing the implications of the market access offers made by India and its principal trading partners. The study makes a comparative analysis of the measures initiated in the different countries such as Brazil, China, Korea, Indonesia for safeguarding their national interests in the automobile sector. It also identifies the policy options open to India for safeguarding the interests of the national automobile sector and also for remaining consistent with WTO obligations. |
