- GEST Event at Indian Science Congress
As part of GEST (Global Ethics in Science and Technology) Project RIS organized a Panel on Ethics in Science and Technology Policymaking at the 99th Indian Science Congress at Bhuvaneshwar on 6th January 2012. The Panel was chaired by Dr.Y.S.Rajan.Dr.Sachin Chaturvedi welcomed the participants and provided an overview of GEST and RIS’s activities related to GEST. This was followed by a presentation by Dr.Miltos Ladikas, University of Central Lancashire. Dr.Jan Staman, Director of Rathenau Institut made his presentation. Dr.K.Ravi Srinivas (RIS) made a presentation on structure of ethical committees and regulation in India. Dr. C.,S. Prakash , Professor at Tuskegee University (USA) and Prof. Ronald Herring , Professor, Department of Government provided their comments as discussants.
This was followed by a discussion in which participants from the floor raised many questions and provided some suggestions. The discussion was lively and the hall was full throughout the session. Presentations made at the event and photographs will be uploaded soon at RIS website.
