Editorial Board Meeting of the ABDR

A meeting of the Editorial Board of Asian Biotechnology and Development Review (ABDR) was held on April 6, 2004 at RIS, New Delhi. It was attended by board members and a large number of experts and leading commentators in the field of biotechnology as special invitees. Apart from the listed agenda the discussion covered a wide range of issues.

There was a great emphasis in the discussion on wide dissemination of the journal for which it was suggested to go for social science indexing of the journal. There was also an emphasis on making ABDR a peer reviewed journal as ICT has at least six such journals.

It was suggested that ABDR should explore funding possibilities from various sources such as Sasakawa Foundation, Pew Institute and such other agencies. There was also an idea to link up the contents of ABDR with ongoing projects like Biotechnology, Biodiversity Initiatives (BBI) and OECD project on collection of biotechnology statistics, which would not only internationalized the contents but also would provide financial support to the publication.

The support from UNESCO and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India was appreciated by the board.
