Workshop on Asian Economic Crisis:
Challenges and Prospects
 

RIS along with the India Society for Asia-Pacific 21st Century (Indian AP-21) organised a one-day workshop on this theme in New Delhi on 22, December 1998 in which experts from the Republic of Korea and India deliberated on issues such as: (a) Asian Economic Crisis: Challenges to Development and Regional Cooperation; (b) Recent Developments in South and Korean Peninsula; and (c) Global Economic Scenario and Indo-Korean Economic Cooperation. The following experts from the Republic of Korea made presentations: Dr. Park Sang-seek, Chancellor; Professor Lee Dong Hevi; Prof. Geun Lee; and Prof. Cho Yong Kym. From the Indian side those who spoke included Prof. Muckund Dubey, President, Council for Social Development; Dr. Rakesh Mohan, Director-General, NCEAR; Prof. R.R. Krishnan, Jawaharlal Nehru University; Shri S.T. Devare, Secretary (ER), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India; Dr. S.L. Rao, Chairman, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission; Dr. Mahendra P. Lama, Jawaharlal Nehru University; and T.K. Bhaumik, Confederation of Indian Industry. From RIS, the main speakers were Dr. V.R. Panchamukhi, Dr. Nagesh Kumar, and Dr. Biswajit Dhar.
