This workshop was
organized in preparation of the UN High Level Conference on Financing for Development,
held in Monterrey, Mexico, March 18-22, 2002. The workshop discussed the Report of the
Zedillo Panel on “Financing for Development” and the “UN Draft outcome of
the International Conference on Financing for Development: Moneterrey Consensus”, and
the RIS study on the subject as reported earlier. Among
others, Mr. Prodipto Ghosh, Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and a
member of the Indian delegation; Dr B.S. Minhas; Mr. Sumeet Jerath, Director (UN),
Ministry of Finance; Shri Ashok Desai; Shri Shrawan Nigam, Economic Adviser, Ministry of
Commerce; Professor Ashok Parthasarathi, Centre for Studies in Science Policy, JNU; Dr
J.D. Agarwal, Indian Institute of Finance; participated in the workshop. A small write-up on the outcome of the
workshop was prepared and circulated among the members of the Indian delegation for the
Monterrey Conference. |
