    Prof Amrita Narlikar is President of the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies, and full Professor at University of Hamburg. She also serves on the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Rising Powers, University of Cambridge, and on the Steering Committee of Processes of International Negotiation. Prior to taking up her position in Hamburg, she was Reader in International Political Economy at the University of Cambridge, and the Founding Director of the Centre for Rising Powers there. She read for her M.Phil. and D.Phil. at Balliol, Oxford, and was a Junior Research Fellow at St John’s College, Oxford. Her papers have been published in numerous international journals and and agenda-setting edited volumes. Professor Narlikar’s books include (co-authored with Aruna Narlikar), Bargaining with a Rising India: Lessons from the Mahabharata, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2014; (co-edited with Martin Daunton and Robert Stern), The Oxford Handbook on the World Trade Organization, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2012; (edited) Deadlocks in Multilateral Negotiations: Causes and Solutions, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2010. Her research focuses on the study of multilateral deadlocks and breakthroughs. She also works on how a fair and sustainable globalisation might be achieved.
