    Dr. Amol Baxi
    Visiting Fellow

    Dr. Amol Baxi has been a resident Visiting Fellow at RIS since January 2024, bringing longstanding work experience from the financial services sector. He holds a recently awarded Ph.D. in Management (Finance) from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, and a prior Master’s in Finance and Control from Delhi University.

    His primary research focus lies in finance and at the intersection of law, finance, and development, with a special emphasis on insolvency and bankruptcy laws and their economic implications. His work focuses on bridging research, practitioner, and policy perspectives to enhance the real-world effectiveness of these legal frameworks. Since mid-2025, he has been part of the broader Finance vertical at RIS, focusing on key themes relevant to the Global South and economic cooperation, including BRICS related initiatives.

    Dr. Baxi has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored RIS discussion papers. He also regularly contributes opinion pieces and has written for prominent dailies, including The Hindu, BusinessLine, Mint, and Hindustan Times, covering insolvency and broader macroeconomic issues. Additionally, he has presented his selected research at the IIM Ahmedabad conferences and workshops (2022, 2024, and 2025).
