Shagun Verma is a Research Assistant at RIS, where she works with the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC). Her work focuses on maritime policy, port-led development, maritime connectivity, and seafarer welfare. She has contributed to research on maritime sustainability, international maritime cooperation, and India's maritime initiatives, with a particular focus on regional cooperation, Global South,  seafarers welfare and capacity building. She has contributed to policy studies in these areas. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Economics from Christ (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru.
